What does sustainability mean for IG Group?
Sustainability is about how we run our business in a way that’s good for people, for the planet, and for the long term. How we treat our colleagues, the communities we operate in, and the products and services we offer all forms part of our sustainability strategy. It matters to our customers, colleagues, investors, and regulators. Our focus is on what’s relevant to our business and what we need to do for compliance. We now have a clear three-pillar framework: People, Planet, and Product.
Planet
We recognise our role in the transition to a lower-carbon economy in light of ongoing global warming challenges. As a result, we continuously assess the impact of our activities on the environment, ensuring that the expectations of our stakeholders are met. Our two key areas of focus are climate change (understanding our potential risks and opportunities and developing plans to reduce our emissions) and energy use (reducing the energy we use and increasing our reliance on renewable energy).
As we continue our climate journey, we look to develop our climate strategy to incorporate short-, medium- and long-term emission reduction targets. A focus specifically over the next year will be to ensure we are aligned with upcoming sustainability reporting requirements.
People
Our people are critical to enhancing our products, providing a high-quality service to our customers, and delivering our growth ambitions. Our focus is on driving engagement and building a high-performance culture that is inclusive, attracts top talent and rewards people accordingly.
We also look to support local communities through our Brighter Future Fund. This is our community investment programme, through which we direct funding, skills and time towards causes that align with our values as a business. Between 2021 and 2025, we pledged 1% of our post-tax profits to charitable causes, a commitment that has been building a meaningful legacy of positive impact in communities around the globe. We have a variety of charitable partnerships across our offices, which support our aims to improve financial and digital literacy, and create pathways into finance and technology careers for underrepresented groups.
Product
The Product pillar reflects our commitment to offering responsible, accessible financial products and services that help customers achieve their financial goals. It covers how we develop and govern our products, how we support informed customer decision-making, and how we ensure good outcomes for the people who use our platforms.
Our product governance frameworks seek to ensure our financial products and services meet legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in the locations in which we operate. Our processes are designed to prioritise customer protection, fair treatment, and positive outcomes, including alignment with Consumer Duty obligations in the UK.
We believe investing should be open to everyone and that’s why we are democratising investing through accessible, low-cost products that serve diverse investor needs. Our educational content helps build investor confidence, supporting financial inclusion and informed customer decision-making.
