Expansion into the US 

We now have two new US-based businesses, IG Markets Inc. and HedgeStreet Inc.

HedgeStreet was launched in February 2008 with a limited product set and is preparing to increase its product range throughout the rest of the year.

IG Markets Inc., based in Chicago, Illinois, is the US branch of our highly successful IG Markets brand and currently covers a range of Forex markets and Binary Options. The firm was launched in April 2008.

IG Markets specialises in financial derivatives, principally binaries and options, as well as being a leading dealer in margined Foreign Exchange.

The US arm of the IG Markets brand is the latest in the Group's expanding range, joining new businesses in France and Spain, along with our Singapore, German and Italian operations which were established in 2006.

HedgeStreet Inc.

IG Group has also added HedgeStreet to our portfolio of brands. The firm was acquired for $6 million (£2.9 million) on 16 November 2007, expanding our reach in the USA.

At the time, Tim Howkins explained: 'The acquisition of HedgeStreet marks an important step in our ongoing process of researching and developing as broad a product range as possible that can be offered to US retail clients.'

He added: 'Our acquisition of HedgeStreet represents a further step in our strategy of geographic expansion and, after some further development work, will give us the ability to offer the US market an innovative range of products.'
