Technical team lead

Managing the support team for the enterprise data warehouse.


  • Ensure the effective recording, prioritisation, management, and resolution of incidents and problems in the enterprise data warehouse escalated from the service desk and monitoring systems across all environments
  • Manage the investigation and fixing of code and data issues to resolve incidents and problems within the operations team, escalating more involved resolutions to the UK development team where necessary
  • Establish and maintain effective monitoring of data warehouse services, and ensure regular reports on service uptime, incidents, and data quality are published for all environments
  • Ensure data warehouse performance is troubleshooted and optimised
  • Ensure technical consulting is provided to business users and small requests are serviced
  • Ensure support documentation is improved and maintained
  • Mentor team members
  • Establish a process for coordinating, managing, and implementing releases to the data warehouse
  • Establish and maintain a rota to ensure that UK business hours are covered by in-office support and by telephone support at other times

Essential criteria

  • Seven years IT experience
  • Three years in an IT support role
  • Degree-level education (in related subject)
  • ITIL background
  • Experience of release management and coordination
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Proactive work ethic with the ability to deliver results and meet challenging deadlines
  • Self-motivating
  • Articulate team player
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of pride in work produced
  • Proven ability and desire to innovate
  • Enthusiasm for the software development process
  • Good English language skills

Desirable criteria

  • Experience with Oracle data warehouses
